I’m thrilled to announce the first-ever Electric City Square Dance, happening Saturday, June 6th! Whether you buy your tickets in advance or grab them at the door, we want to see you there.

Square dances come in many styles. Here is a clip of what we have in mind. Our approach is simple: No outfits, no memberships, no manuals. Just come as you are.

  • No experience? No problem. The caller teaches every move as you go.
  • No partner? Not a worry. This is a social event—you’ll be mixing, mingling, and switching partners all night. The more the merrier!

The Talent

Our Caller: Martha Cooper is a second generation dance caller currently living in Peterborough ON. She first started calling with her father Eldon Cooper, and upon moving to Ottawa she fell in with the likes of Catherine Burns and Pippa Hall. Now many years later, Martha has called dances in Ottawa, Toronto, Kingston, Montreal, Vancouver, Seattle, Syracuse and more. She calls community dances, workshops in schools, weddings and parties. Most recent additions to her bio are the Algoma Trad Family Music and Dance Camp, Blue Skies Music Festival, and the Woods Music and Dance Camp.

The Music: Live tunes to be provided by the Drumlins String Band featuring, Chris Culgin (Guitar), Diamond Dave (Bass), and Mark Romeril (Fiddle).
